Making mischief since 83'
I was born in Scotland, and then moved to Devon in my early teens. Subsequently I went on to study a BA in photography at Art College in Cheltenham before moving to London in 2005. After a few years carrying lights and learning from some of the top photographers in their respective fields I went on to carve out my own career in photography.
Growing up on a farm in Scotland and then spending my formative years in Devon instilled a love for the great outdoors from a young age. I began running with my father at the age of seven and then when I was ten he took me on my first proper hiking trip in the Cairngorms climbing Munroe’s. Over twenty years later we are still climbing mountains, running multi-day UltraMarathon’s and coming up with new ideas for the next big challenge.
When I am not running, cycling, surfing, climbing myself I will most likely be camera in hand capturing someone else doing what they love...
This love of adventure has influenced my photographic work; photographing insane downhill mountain bikers in Utah for RedBull, die-hard surfers Down Under for a personal project and runners from the all corners of the world, the Alps to the America's
Capturing portraits of people doing what they love in all manners of extreme and beautiful landscapes is when I am most comfortable. The main aim in my work is to create honest, open and raw images, whether thats of a person or place, I like to concentrate on making images that evoke emotion and questions to draw the viewer in even further and take them beyond surface level.
